LeagueSphere — Building a Regional SaaS From Scratch

Build & Embed

2021–2026 (Ongoing)

Why It Worked LeagueSphere proves the full journey. We didn't just build software — we understood the league operations deeply enough to build exactly what they needed. And we stayed through adoption, training, and scaling. That's the difference between a project and a product.

The Real Outcome LeagueSphere isn't a feature-complete product that was handed over and forgotten. It's a living system that grows with the leagues it serves. That only happens when builder and customer are genuinely aligned on success.

The Challenge

American football leagues in Germany were drowning in spreadsheets. Scheduling games, assigning officials, publishing results, managing digital passes — each league was cobbling together a Frankenstein of Excel, email, and phone calls.

Someone had the vision: “What if there was a platform built for this?”

But vision without execution is just a wish. They needed:

  • Software that actually understood league operations (not generic project management tool)
  • A team that would stick with them through the messy middle when adoption seemed impossible
  • Partners who wouldn’t just hand over code and disappear
  • Confidence that the product would grow with them

What We Did

We took full ownership of the journey:

Build Phase (2021–2022):

  • Deep understanding of league operations and workflows
  • MVP focused on the core pain: scheduling + official assignment + results publication
  • Iterative development with real leagues using it
  • Team adoption support from day one (not after launch)

Scale Phase (2022–2024):

  • Feature expansion based on league feedback
  • Multi-region deployment (6+ leagues onboarded)
  • Digital pass system, advanced reporting, integration capabilities
  • Team training and process adoption (the hard part)

Sustainability Phase (2024–2026):

  • SaaS model: €900–€5,000+ per region per season (depends on league size)
  • Version 3.19.5 current — continuous iteration and improvement
  • Seasonal subscriptions with year-round engagement
  • Revenue compound as leagues expand

Results

  • Operational reality — from "someday we'll build this" to live product in 9 months
  • Regional scaling — 6+ leagues now trust LeagueSphere for critical operations
  • Revenue model proven — recurring SaaS revenue, predictable and growing
  • Team adoption — leagues actually use it, not abandoned after launch
  • 5-year partnership — we're still iterating and improving together
  • Market validation — leagues actively recommend to other leagues
