Dialograum Geld — Values-Driven Community Dialogue
March 2021
Why It Worked This case proves we don't just facilitate corporate decisions. We facilitate conversations that matter — the ones that require courage and skill to hold well. When organizations care deeply about their values, we help make those values real in the room.
The Real Outcome A community gathering where money became a normal topic, not a shameful one. Participants left with new perspectives and a stronger sense that their voices matter.
The Challenge
Dialograum Geld is a community initiative in Augsburg dedicated to normalizing conversations about money — a topic typically shrouded in secrecy and shame. They needed facilitation for a community gathering where diverse participants could discuss money openly and honestly, without judgment or discomfort derailing the conversation.
This required more than logistics. It required a facilitator who understood that some conversations are about more than outcomes — they’re about creating safety, dignity, and genuine connection.
What We Did
We designed and facilitated an Open Space dialogue structured specifically for sensitive topics:
- Safety first — established group norms around listening, confidentiality, and respect
- Diverse participation — ensured all voices were heard, not just the loudest
- Structured openness — clear process, but space for organic conversation
- Values alignment — the entire process reflected Dialograum's commitment to transparency and community
- Normalization — positioned money as a healthy, necessary topic for dialogue
Results
- Difficult conversations happened — participants engaged with money topics authentically
- Community voices were heard — diverse perspectives emerged and were respected
- Taboo was lifted — money moved from "forbidden topic" to "normal conversation"
- Values proven — Dialograum demonstrated their commitment beyond theory
